What would make your cheek swollen?

Dd has been complaining about her cheek hurting for about 2 days now. When we look we don't see anything. This morning she said it hurts more. I got the flashlight and looked. It does seem to be swollen and she has a couple of small bumps. I gave her some motrin and anbesol to rub on it. I am thinking it might be a canker sore, but I don't see any signs of them.
Should I call the dentist?

I have sjogrens and sometimes get block saliva glands. They hurt and are swollen. Usually warm compresses help to relieve them. I would still call your dentist to be on the safe side.
