One of my friends, who is in her late 40's with 8 children, just ran and finished the Los Angeles marathon.
My other friend, who will be celebrating her 50th birthday this year, just hired a personal trainer and is working out with her three times a week to prepare for her second triathalon.
Man! It makes me want to put down my mocha and go out for a jog or something.

Go For It, Ferdie!!!
I ran (and finished) the New York City Marathon in 2003 at the age of 47. It was a goal that I wanted to accomplish before I died. And I did it! (I'm not leaving this planet anytime soon, God willing!) :)

It would be a lot easier and more fun if you recline on your couch, mocha in hand, and watch a video of a marathon or a triathlon ... or just pop in an exercise video. :D

My husband runs marathons. I think he caught the crazy somewhere. He thinks I should try it.

Oh, honey!
Sounds like midlife crisises worked out to positive ends to me.
Incidentally, I just started running because walking wouldn't loose the pounds for me. And I am still carrying around all my baby weight from two pregnancies. And I feel great when I run. I never, ever, ever, used to like running. But now? I actually think about going and doing it.
