Please share what a typical week looks like using MWS in your home. I know Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia is a required resource, but I don't see it scheduled anywhere in the weekly lesson plans. How do you use KSE? Do your children read books each week, in addition to the scheduled spine? Do you use the MWS program a la TWTM (read spine book, do additional reading, create notebook page)?
I love the book selections, notebook pages, gentle approach...and I really want to use this with my youngers this spring. However, I'm a little confused about how to actually implement this program in my homeschool.
Thanks for any input!

My World Science? Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia is recommended for older elementary (3-5), but not required. My guys are early elementary so I went with Usborne's The Natural World (also not required). We are on our 3rd MWS unit. We started out doing Science T/Th, but my guys prefer one longer session a week, so now we do the weeks worth of lessons on Th. We read/discuss the required book - One Small Square for example, do the hands on if we have the materials, then go over the worksheets together. During our read aloud time I include recommended books for the unit from the library, videos, and I add some to their book basket from Science. We use The Natural World more from reference, but under the "read" section of each lesson it lists topics to look up in either TNW or KSE. I let my kids kind of guide me as to how interested they are, what topics they want to explore more. We've really enjoyed MWS.
