I'm so tired of findind rust spots on my clean clothes:mad::mad::mad:.

The fuzzy stuff around the inside of the opening of my dryer is rusty. At first I thought it was burnt but I wiped it and it smells like rust. How do I clean rust out of the inside of the dryer? I am really tempted to just replace the #($)*@ thing but we just spent $150 getting a new heating element put in.

I'm sorry. I've had this problem for several years, but it's coming from the drum of my washer, I think. I believe that the drum has rusted on the other side and that rust leaks through the holes in the drum during the wash cycle. I end up with rusty streaks on all my t-shirts..... I wonder if some sort of heat proof sealant could be sprayed on (like a Rusteoleum type product) the area to seal in the rust and stop if from affecting your clothes?

If there is a reachable rusty spot, you can clean it with "Naval Jelly". You coat it on and then wipe it off (you'd have to read the actual instructions on the bottle). When all traces are rust are gone you could coat it with something (I'd ask them at Home Depot) so that it won't rust again. It would be a real pain but it would extend the life of your appliance (and clothes).
