View Full Version : Need help with which glue to use
Book Crazy

I just purchased a "Make this Model, Medieval Castle". I've cut and tired to assemble the first couple of sections, but when I've glued them together, I still end up needing to use clear tape to stick it down.
I'm using purple Elmer's glue. What other glue can I use that is fast drying, but will stick the paper together, with out me having to use tape?
Thanks

The Aileen's Tacky Glue stuff has a version that is fast drying. We use it for *everything* - it is fantastic, expecially for kids!

Best glue is called YES!(found it at Michaels and MJDesigns) and it is like a thick paste. WE use Qtips to apply it or a cheap watercolor brush. We use this to make books and lapbooks

a few websites for people that are into making paper models recommend using the Aleene's Tacky Glue. There is a fast-drying version (mentioned above) if you want it to dry quickly that I really like. For 3D model projects, I prefer the Aleen's Tacky Glue "Fast Grab" that comes in a purple bottle. It's extra thick, doesn't run, and grabs items on contact ~ I think it's formulated for things like this that are difficult to hold. And when there are parts that are really giving us trouble coming apart, we stick a clothes pin on them for a few minutes or until it's dry, if necessary. Have fun with the castle!

That is so beautiful Jenny! A hot glue gun is such a good idea. It looks like it will last for ever.

I'm so glad I did a search before I asked. I'm off to Michael's...
It's nice to know that someone has completed this project. It looks like a lot of work, but it will be our "project" for the year.
