I can't remember ever going on a long vacation and leaving any home alone. We have never done week long vacations much due to being self employed. Vacations usually mean trips out of state to Grandma's house for 4-5 days. I miss the times when we would all go as a family. This really started to end when they reached 18. They couldn't always get the time off at holidays to travel with us. This year all of my kids are taking time off for Easter to go visit their grandparents for their 62nd wedding aniversary. I am so looking forward to this. My children are 29,28,25,22 & 11.

My girls are 18 and 20 and never wanted to be left when we went on vacation. We have to much fun. All the kids did stay home in January while hubby and I took along weekend away in the mountains.

Im sure this will happen soon enough for us though.... it seems like a year is going by in a few months... not 12.... They are growing fast!:)

As long as our boys lived at home they always went on vacation with us, their part time employers were always accommodating. Even after they lived away from us we would often all travel from different directions to meet up on vacation.

My parents had me stay home when I was 17 while they went on a 1 week vacation. My neighbor kept an eye on me in case of an emergency, but everything went fine.
No BTDT experience with my own kids though. It probably varies from kid to kid.
