Accurate? If not, that's ok. It was a lovely little movie (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/missaustenregrets/index.html).
I'm so spending my summer days/nights re-reading my Austen....

Don't know about accuracy, but I really enjoyed this movie, too. The young actress playing her niece was incredible. It was a hard one to watch, though -- regrets and disappointed expectations are extremely painful topics for me personally at this particular point in my life.

Just returned this to Netflix recently. Cried my eyes out (ok, I am pregnant). Loved the movie, it's just really sad. Regrets are hard.

Yes, fairly accurate. I saw the movie first, then read a biography about Miss Austen. For the most part, the movie was pretty accurate. Of course, as with nearly ANY movie based on "real life", there were a few inconsistencies. But overall, it depicted her life as it really was.

When I was pregnant, the preview for Prince Caspian made me cry. (???) :)

I need to see this movie, I guess. I purposely avoided it because I had heard that it was not accurate. I heard that it based Jane Austen's story telling inspirations on the possible disappointments in her love life. This couldn't be right because she wrote Sense and Sensibility (under the title Elinor and Marianne) and Pride and Prejudice (under the title First Impressions) when she was very young, maybe even at age 17 if I am remembering properly. If anyone has read her juvenilia, for ex. her History of England which is hysterical (!) you can see that she was brimming with wit from a very young age. So I guess I was just knee-jerk in thinking that the movie world wanted to turn her wonderful talent into something inspired by a broken heart and I really don't think that is the case.
So am I wrong in my impressions? Should I give Miss Austen Regrets a try?
