I have heard of a few of you using the Language Lessons, but what about the science, Bible, history, etc? I am really interested in these. What is your experience? Do you use them as stand alones or as suppliments?

Yes. I edited my subject line to be more clear. Thanks!
Well, my edit shows up on the subject line when I click on the post, but not from the main page. (Scratching my head)

The science is REAL Science for Kids which is a curriculum, except the nature type stuff. The history is really books you can use for independent reading or as a part of curriculum of your choice. There's short studies such literature studies with a history book and other items. Is there something in particular you have a question about? Maybe someone can help if you provide a more specific question.. :)

I like their gentle language arts book but disliked the Little House and My side of the Mountain Literature/Nature Study guide. It was about 5 pages long and basically did nothing.

I will tell you what I think based upon my very thorough inspection of my friend's order:
She LOVES the Language Lessons series for her 2 boys and says they really enjoy them. She currently has LL for Little Ones vol 1 and 2, LL for Very Young vol 1 and 2, and LL for Elementary child 1. But to me they just don't seem meaty enough and the lessons in the Elementary level are fairly short--too short for my comfort level, so I will not be using them...i also feel that $20 is a bit high for a book that you will need to repurchase to use with your other children--also they are only copied on 1 side of the page and there are about 80-90 pages total--about 10 of those pages are color reprints of fine art--and in the elementary level there is LOTS of copywork...I feel like I can really make up the copywork on my own and then find fine art in books from the library or the internet and have my child discuss, narrate, and write a story about it...also i don't feel that there is enough English teaching of topics in those books--i know that is the main CM style but it is too loose for my comfort...the lessons in the little ones and very young levels are appropriate for the ages and the coywork is just right for them too--I considered getting the LL for little ones for my almost 3 yo, but it is mostly teaching the letters and sounds--i personally don't think any of the levels could be used as stand alone language arts programs, maybe as something to be worked in independently along with some main language arts lessons...to say the least I am not really impressed and will not be purchasing these--maybe if the cost was closer to $10 I would reconsider.
She also purchased the Daniil the Triceratops book and study guide--the book is $8 and the guide is $7 and to be quite honest the stuff in the guide is stuff that you could make up yourself and it is like super short--5-7 pages and NOT worth the $7. The book isn't very long and I started to read chap. 1 and was bored with it.
She also received the manners copywork for grades 1-3. Again it was just a few pages long (about 5 copywork lessons per page printed front and back) and comb bound. There did not seem to really be enough room for the young child to copy it onto the lines provided. So in my case I would end up re-typing everything into StartWrite and then printing it. Also the manners were just common sense things you could make up yourself, but I guess for the convenience of having it all done for you and just being able to assign a part of it each day it is worth it.
One thing I do like that they encourage in coywork is to have the child copy just onto one line rather than handwriting paper so they can focus on the punctuation and spelling, etc. which is the real reason for having a child do copywork--not for handwriting practice.
I was tempted to purchase a few nature study guides and the Bible study book A Virtuous Girl, but after seeing my friend's stuff I am scared to purchase because in the long run it is probably stuff I could find elsewhere and i wouldn't really enjoy it!
I do realize they are a HS family and trying to run a successful home business, but I also think that their items are a bit on the high side. I think they should have more samples on their website so you would know what you were getting when you bought it.
I also wanted to mention that some of their books the reprinted ones are available online for FREE and you can copy and paste them into word or other processor and print them out or read them online.

I just purchased Language Lessons for Little Ones to use starting in July with my ds3 who will then be 4. He knows his letters and is learning his letter sounds right now so I know that much of it will be review. That is ok with me because I feel he will need the review. I personally like the idea of the curriculum. The picture study intrigues me and to have it already there with questions for the child to answer is such a help to me. I already pull books from the library for SOTW history, science, etc. and to have to pull and plan more would be overwhelming. I have seen Jessica post about Primary Language LEssons (I think this is the right name). Same concept but maybe layed out better. I am looking forward to using the Queen book with ds. Don't know how far we will continue in the series but I wanted some help with implementing some "Charlotte Mason" style into our learning. These language books along with the introduction of nature study is how I am getting my feet wet. Hope this helps.
