I mean...do you ever wish you could ask a question and get a dozen responses...like NOW! LOL! I'm home alone, dh took kids to church and my mom's for the day so I could organize, do laundry, clean, shop for some supplies for next week's studies, etc. Resting would be nice, but we'll see! Anyway, I'm just overwhelmed about this organizing (b/c I'm so disorganized now). Books: split by subject but do I put historical fiction in with the HISTORY section or the novel section? Do I put science "living books" in w/ the other science encyclopedias and references books? Do I even start with the books or should I just organize other supplies? Ugh. You're laughing...I know it :D I don't really have OCD...I'm just a big-time perfectionist and if I can't do it "perfectly", I tend to just give up. BUT, this house must get organized before the baby comes or I won't have time. Yes, I'm nesting. Go on...laugh at me. Let me be your entertainment for today :D

I keep all science books together, both reference, texts, and living books. However, I do keep historical fiction with other fictional books and history refences seperate. I do this because my dc are more likely to read the historical fiction for enjoyment so they are kept with the other novels and juvenile fiction.
I do keep a list of all the historical fiction books on my computer so that I can easily reference them whenever we study a particular time period.
Hope this makes sense.

Yes! I feel the same way! So if I laugh at you I'll be laughing at myself. I walk through the house talking to myself all the time and dd thinks I'm losing it. maybe I am. It would be so nice to get 'instant feedback' from y'all on every little thing that pops into my head.
Aren't you glad to know you aren't the only 'crazy' one?:D

I love the nesting phase. I remember washing the outside windows of the nursery/office in our little rental house about a week before dd came!
I organize by subject. Everything I'm going to use for a subject goes together. I do put our most current books on our schoolroom shelf, and ones we might use later, in the office (we have built ins along two walls there). I keep library books in a large basket beside the couch--DD7 keeps a stack actually on her bed, too.
Books are easy--are all the baby things organized? lol
