My dd will get married on May 31st. They had been waffling back and forth because of money issues - but we are going to cut as many corners as possible and still have a nice wedding.
We went dress shopping yesterday - we found the perfect dress and I am so happy that it was on sale and we could afford it! She tried it on and it took my breath away. That moment, besides the birth of my children and grandson, was one of the most awesome moments of my life!
Wow--beautiful description of the moment. There is so much available on the internet about how to plan a frugal but gorgeous wedding. We planned this all last year, until my daughter decided to just get married in her backyard.:p

My dd has chosen to have the ceremony in my mil's back yard. It is beautiful and will make a nice setting. The ceremony will be family only. Since dh is a volunteer fireman, we are able to rent the firemen's hall for the reception at a very reasonable price. It is a little small, but hopefully it will be a pleasant spring day and we can have a tent outside, too. And, there are so many excellent cooks on both sides of the family. It should be a great day!
Enjoy the day, enjoy your daughter. :)
My daughter is a planner and she took over most of the arrangements for her wedding. My husband and I took care of the bills! When my daughter asked for my imput, I gave it. In our case, it would have been detrimental to our relationship if stepped in and took charge. In other situations, Mom may be the driving force (this will be the scenario for me with daughter #2) to get things done.
I'm not much help, but if I can be along the way, drop me a line. :)
Oops, foot in mouth. I hope I didn't look like I was  at all backyard weddings. It's just that we planned for months--dresses were bought, hall was rented, cakes had been tried (all at her initiative, not mine--honestly!), then she and her then-fiance decided a backyard wedding with just them and each of their best friends as witnesses would be best.
It sounds like you have an absolutely wonderful day planned. I love spring weddings.:)

Oh, don't worry, Hana! I'm sorry you went to all that work!! If my dd had her way, it would only be immediate family - parents & siblings. But, with two very large families to contend with (and some very strong personalities), she opted to invite about 30-40 family members to the ceremony. I'm sure there will still be some with their nose bent, but hey, it's her wedding!
And, thanks for the advice, CCM. I am trying hard to be supportive and not let my feelings and opinions overshadow what SHE wants. Actually, we have been working together very well. There was a time when this would not have been so easy :o
