at Staples:
X-ACTO Vortex 1730 Electric Pencil Sharpener Black

I just sharpened about 100 pencils and they all easily got very nice points.

I bought this at the store without looking at reviews, but pulled it up at the Staples site to post it here and it has positive reviews.

All of a sudden, it's sharpening pencils "lopsided"...sharpened on one side and all wood on the other! Sooooo frustrating! I tried sharpening our Crayola colored pencils today and they all came to great points...with wood on one side and color on the other! Ugh. How much was it, btw?

Thanks for sharing. I posted last month sometime hoping to find one I could trade mine out for and this could be the ticket! :-) Again, thanks for taking the time to share...

Hmmm. I had two X-Acto sharpeners, and I hated both of them. The first one didn't work at all. I exchanged it for a different model, and I hated the short, super-sharp points. They were dangerously sharp to begin with, but got flat and wide after just a few minutes of writing.

I much preferred my Panasonic, but I can't find another one. Fortunately, my mom gave me her Royal. I like it a lot (as much as a person can like a pencil sharpener). :) I like long points that last more than a few minutes.

Since we are talking about pencil sharpeners, can I say I hate mine?! I thought going electric would help me make life easy, well it hasn't. It seems like I have to keep sharpening, and turning the pencil if I want it to sharpen it the right way, and even that doesn't help. Plus the amount of time it takes to sharpen I might as well do it manually, not too mention that when it seems like the pencil is sharpened I hand it to one of my dc to use they start writing and it breaks! GRRRR!!!

This one definitely has very long points, that was the first thing that stood out when I started catching up on sharpening. I like a nice point.
