There's been so much talk about IKEA lately, I thought it would be fun to share what we surprised DS with yesterday. Everything (except the desk) is new to him.

We've been struggling to find the right kind of Lego storage for years, and this is perfect. All those works-in-progress can go into the green tubs so they don't get disturbed, or pieces lost in the process. (Up to this point he's had them scattered in various piles across his floor, making it impossible to walk in there without a "WATCH OUT! It took me forever to find those pieces!)

We're going to have to add a tall unit at the end of his bed for a few more much loved items that don't get used on a daily basis. For now they can stay in the rubbermaid tubs they're in.

He's one happy boy.

Oh, and if you're familiar with IKEA, those barely visible circles on the underside of his bed (near the head of the bed) are the magnetic spice tins. They stick anywhere on his bed. Right now, he's got his favorite lego people in them, and since the lids are transparent, he can see what is in them. We also have a few magnetic legos that he can attach large projects to, and stick to the bottom of his bed. I'm gonna have to order more of those!!!

It looks great, and I really like the way he's using the spice tins :)
I understand the need to keep all those legos off the floor, my 11yo ds has a gazillion of them ;)

Cool! Bet he was excited, huh?

We're in the process of redoing my ds' room -- nice to know about the Lego storage -- we needs tons of that around here. Love the idea of using the magnetic tins for the Lego guys; I think we'll borrow that ideas as my ds loves his Lego guys.

The room looks great. :)
