Does BJU have the explanations written in the textbook clearly, like Abeka does?
I thought I read somewhere that BJU had better explanations but I wanted to make sure that what they meant was in the explanations were in the student textbook. I don't want to have to rely on a teacher's manual daily if possible.
Thanks,

Unless they recently radically changed their upper math program...
A few years ago they did change their Pre-Algebra--upgrading it to a nice program... but as far as I know their Algebra program (and above) is still low quality (recovered 1914 Heath Mathematics texts!).
Both of these programs were written to be used by a classroom teacher--who would be presenting the lesson. The examples in ABeka are NOT sufficient--and the TE does not add any more... it is just the student text with answers.
BJU is slightly more user friendly--again it really really needs a teacher--or video lessons. BJU is a MUCH better program.
If you are wanting a program with complete lessons in the student text then you might want to look at Lial--it was designed for independent learning.
