I need MUCH hand-holding in the area of literary analysis and writing (especially the writing) so I am quite impressed with the program Windows to the World. It looks like a great fit for dd. I notice that the curriculum uses short stories and poetry to teach, not complete books.

Is it reasonable to plan to add quite a few complete works to the program? It says 18 to 26 weeks, so I'm assuming there would be room. I'm considering using this program alongside a year of geography (probably BJU's Cultural Geography or something similar). I would love to read a book for each country/continent to go along with our geography study.

Could we use the Windows program to teach all the literary terms and writing, and then apply what we're learning to some whole books? And/or maybe use some Progeny Press or TLP guides with the books?

That's exactly what I do. If you preread the book you may get a feel for which literary element stands out. Are the characters well developed, then focus on characterization. If there's irony, focus on that.
It worked out well. I like the Glencoe Literature guides that are free online.

Thanks! It's good to start finding places to "fit" some of these programs I want to use.

Oooh, thanks Michelle in AL for mentioning the Glencoe Guides--I had no idea they were online for free. I am always looking out for "free" lit resources/guides.
