I know I could print out the NLE syllabus for the Latin II exam and possibly figure this out, but I was wondering if anyone happened to know how much of Wheelock's needed to be completed to be prepared on the NLE Latin II test.

TIA!

This page (http://www.nle.org/pdf/NLECOLLEGE2009.pdf) from the NLE website might be helpful for you, Cynthia, in determining whether or not you needed to complete Wheelock's in order to prepare for the NLE Latin II test. From what I can determine, this is the page entitled "The NLE for College Students", and it appears that the second semester (i.e., the second half) of the Wheelock's book should be completed before taking the Latin II exam.

However, I'm still a beginner myself, so hopefully someone with more experience can give you a more thorough answer!

I could be wrong, but I think that you would be working on the second half of Wheelock's Latin, but not that you would have completed it.

NLE Level II: Meant for students enrolled in this level of college/university Latin during the spring semester* -Second semester of elementary Latin, -One-semester intensive elementary Latin course if it began in January"

The third, fourth, and fifth levels usually involve reading specific authors. (Intermediate Latin usually means that you're starting to read authors.)

The folks at the NLE website (http://www.nle.org/) would better be able to answer the question and they should certainly be familiar with Wheelock's (both for high school and college students).

Of course, you'll probably need to do some historical and cultural reading to be prepared for those questions on the NLE.

I sent them an e-mail. Ds took the NLE Latin I exam this year and scored a 38, but I am thinking about switching to Wheelocks next year. I think the only way to do this is just to start at the beginning. I am actually kind of bummed about our Latin. We have been trying to mix in some Spanish which has slowed our Latin pace. I wish he ONLY wanted to do Latin. I had neither of those languages in high school, but the Latin has gone so well b/c of the lack of necessity of speaking it. But, I didn't know how far into Wheelocks we needed to get and we will lose additional time with the backtracking. I am hoping we can go through the earlier part of the book faster. I think I will post this as a separate thread.

Should I have him take the Latin I exam again? Is there any reason to do this?

Sorry, I am really rambling!
