I haven't used it yet, because it came out after my older son returned to school and my younger isn't ready for it yet. I have read it and love it. I do plan on using it with my younger son when he's high school age.

Dd and dh are enjoying The History of the Ancient World. It's the only one, of many, she'll pick up and use this year.

How do you use it for high school? I had my (advanced) 7th grader read it this year as part of school, but didn't require anything else. He read it twice, I think.

Good question! I assume just as a spine. I've never used a history textbook as anything more than that.
