Has anyone used Biology by Bridget? Or one of the other "By Bridget"? I'm looking at it, and want some feedback. I like that the student does the fact finding instead of having it all given to him.
Thanks,
Cathie

Hi Cathie, I'm looking forward to seeing the response that you get about this program. I've decided to go ahead and use Apologia Biology next year since we are using a research based History/Literature program (TRISMS) and Jasmine wants me to lead a science group at home again next year. Hope you get some answers.

I'm not at all familiar with this and can't seem to find it via Google...do you have any more information or a link?

But I figured it was this Bio (http://www.scienceforhighschool.com/)

I never heard it called Biology by Bridget though, so I could be wrong! It looks interesting but I haven't heard from anyone who actually used it.

I have thought of using the biology program. My co-op used the chemistry one, and I heard outstanding reviews from the parents. The class was taught by a University of SC professor, so that showed me that this course is not snuff!! I did hear from one of the parents that she thought the author (Bridget) must have used an Abeka science test as her source for the study guide. They found the answers to the questions easily from the Abeka textbooks. Yet, I do think this is a great way to incorporate "real books" into science study. It teaches research skills too!

Yes, it is "Science for High School". I'm not sure where I got the "By Bridget" from but I've been calling it that for a while... The link is http://www.scienceforhighschool.com/ .

I spoke to Bridget Ardoin and had the chance to examine her materials at the NC Homeschool conference a couple of years ago. I rather liked the concept. She poses leading questions in her book which students then research. Given her background as a microbiologist, she opted to take this investigatory approach.

We chose to go with Campbell this year, following an AP Biology path which made sense for us given my son's strong biology background. I have not implemented Ms. Ardoin's course, so I can't say that it is superior to other programs with which I am also inexperienced. I can say that when I was at the NC conference, I found myself drawn to her table several times to read and reread her book. I found it to be refreshing, but I am an inquiry based, hands on kind of science gal.

I appreciate everyone's input! I wish I could find someone locally that uses her program so I could really look at it.
