Have you supplemented with a history text? Spielvogel? Do you make this year a "world history" year on your transcript, or focus on American History? It seems like it'd be a good year to get the Amer. Hist. credit in. Those of you who are doing this, what are you supplementing with? Or -- is the combination of primary & secondary books enough?

We are using it in 9th grade as a Modern World History. We use a Spielvogel text and read through that and do Omnibus III (selected books from both primary and secondary). Since we did an American History course last year, we are not spending much time on the American history books from Omnibus III. We are trying to stick to the World History books. It has been plenty.

Julie,
I am encountering this problems for the upcoming year for my 9th grader. I would be interested in how you decided to list the Omnibus III.
Thanks,
Lisa

I'm supplementing with A History of the American People, by Paul Johnson (recommended in one of the earlier editions of WTM), and I'm focusing on American history. Someone else on this board called one of their WTM history courses something like American History in World Context, which I think might make a good title for this as well.

We supplemented with William Bennett's America:The Last Best Hope. We are focusing on American History. We also Supplemented with the Teaching Company's course on the Federalist Paper's and Lincoln's Speeches.

I am planning on supplementing with Notgrass American History. Spielvogel has been a flop around here. Some of the literature selections from Notgrass overlap with the Omnibus secondary books, which is a plus.
