I am wanting to supplement grammar next year with GWG 5. My kids are 9 and 11 5th and 7th grade next year. I only do grammar now on MWF, so next year I was thinking of doing GWG MWF and supplementing with one of the following on TTH.

Junior Analytical Grammar
FLL 4
Intermediate Language Lessons
Or
Writing Tales (or should I do this regardless of what I else I use.)

Do any of you supplement GWG and if so with what? Thanks

It is as thorough as R&S minus the writing component. IMO, you would ONLY need GWG. I"m not familiar w/ the other programs you mentioned, but would just add a writing program. GWG 5 would be for your 5th grader, correct? GWG doesn't have a 7th grade level yet. From what I can recall about WRiting Tales, it encompasses writing AND grammr. I'm sure others who use it can elaborate. I'm not much help except to say that GWG is a complete grammar program.

We're using GWG 5 this year. We use it every day rather than 3 times per week. When we finish, we move on to the next level, or concentrate on writing instead.
I would not consider needing to supplement GWG at the stage there is curriculum.
I use AG with my 7th grader, and it is much more advanced. There is no GWG for that level, so I picked this program.

We've used GWG 1 & 2. My plan is to continue with GWG through 5 and then start Analytical Grammar in 6th. We use IEW for writing.

Do you teach GWG or do you let your children read from the book and then they ask questions if need be. I love this curriculum but my children aren't thriving with it.

I go over it with ds, and then turn him loose on the workpage. Does any 10yo like grammar?

It just isn't getting in their brain as I had hoped. I mean GWG repeats new information throughout the workbook, but maybe just not enough for my 2. My children can diagram a sentence one day perfectly then the next day it is put the subject any where you want and verbs on the modifier line. They forget so quickly.
