She is a native speaker of LA Spanish and is using the GP Spanish course for her children. She's on the road at the moment, which is why I'm replying for her.

It really won't make a difference. I learned Spanish growing up, and then spent a semester studying at the UNiversidad de Costa Rica in college. My Spanish was a bit different, but not terribly so. I got a couple of "My, aren't YOU formal?" comments when I used vosotros, but in a teasing way. We certainly all understood each other. I wouldn't let the "type" of Spanish stop you from using this program.

(We use Galore Park, by the way, and are loving it!)
