Question about posting under a sub-post

I noticed when I clicked on "hybrid mode" that some posts in a thread are indented, and look like they were responding to a specific message (like we could do on the old board). Is this what happens when we click the "quick reply" option? If not, how do I reply to a specific post in a given thread?
